And I promise you that I will not vote myself a raise ....I haven't had a raise in the private sector in 3 years, due to economic times, this position should be no different!

I think one of the main issues we are faced with in Chatham County today is the lack of Jobs.  We have an available work force., but the current rules and restrictions in place by the county, has made it difficult and even discouraging for businesses to stay much less come here.  The everyday land owner has been left to pick up the tab leftover when businesses leave.   To make up for the lost revenue created when a business exits, the creation of Impact fees, and land transfer taxes have been developed.   These in turn discourage people from builiding homes and living here.  One problem created by another one.  We CAN NOT continued like this.

By developing Major industry  to help share the tax burden, and take some of the load off the working family, we can hopefully get rid of these "created taxes and fees".

There are several empty builidngs in the town of Siler City.  Once a booming manufactoring town of furniture, hosiery, textiles, and lumber, it has almost become a "rest stop" for food and gas between Raleigh and Asheboro.

I don't think we will recover our furniture and textile businesses.  They seem to be a thing of the past.  NAFTA  signed in 1993 put the "nail in the coffin" on those industries. They slowly left for China one by one ...unnoticed at first.....but then all of the sudden one day ...they were no more.  Thinking back, Ross Perot said that NAFTA would create a "great sucking sound"., of jobs leaving the country, and gas would be $3 per gallon.

We have to look for new types of industry, and we have to want business to locate here.  Despite what our current county mindset is, we all can't run a candy store, or an art gallery !

A man in my community that I respect very much, and a true southern gentlemen, Mr. Curtis Moore, who was a successful business owner here in  Chatham for many years, once told me  "you can't depend on your enemy to supply your needs."

Almost everything you buy, comes from China.  I picked up a dog bone in Wal Mart the other day.....it was "made in China", has America come to the point we have to import a dog bone ?

I believe in Individual property rights.  You should not have to pay a transfer tax to give property to your kids.  IT IS YOUR LAND !

I don't believe in Wasteful Spending.  We are in a recession, despite what the "state of the county " report says.  Gas is $3 per gallon, unemployment is 10+percent, and we have more buildings sitting empty than operatiing.  I would not classify this as "out of the recession".  I guess the mentality is, if  you are spending the tax payers money, you have a bottomless wallet.  If you run out, just come up with another tax or impact fee, they won't mind, they'll keep taking it......WRONG,,,,,,,The people of this county are tired of this.   I am not a poitician .....nor to I want to be referred to as one. I am a native son who is ready to take this county back.. I have no personal agenda, other than to do whats right for our county.  If I knew you yesterday, I will know you today, and I will know you tomorrow.  Come to the community of Bonlee, take a pulse.  Ask them about Kim Beal.  I haven't just come out into the communtiy since I decied to run for office trying to get a vote.  I know who lives three houses down the road.  I know when a neighbor needs help, and I know that I will try my best to serve you with dignity and honor.
